Franziska Giffey, Mayor of Berlin: “Major step towards an innovative climate-neutral city”
The Governing Mayor of Berlin, Franziska Giffey, has invited to the signing of the LOI between HH2E AG and WISTA Management GmbH in the Rotes Rathaus. In the letter of intent, Alexander Voigt (co-founder and board member of HH2E) and Roland Sillmann (managing director of WISTA Management GmbH) agreed that parts of the property in the CleanTech Business Park Marzahn would be transferred to HH2E AG. On this basis, the company can move forward with its plans to build an HH2E plant, which could produce climate-neutral heat from green hydrogen to supply neighboring businesses and homes from 2027.
Franziska Giffey: “We need to restructure large parts of our energy generation and storage systems if the energy transition is to succeed. This requires considerable transformation efforts. Finding suitable areas for the construction of new technologies is a major challenge in a metropolis like Berlin. I am delighted that this has been achieved in the CleanTech Business Park Marzahn. The HH2E plant planned there will produce green hydrogen, which can be used to generate electricity and heat. This could supply 30 percent of all Berlin households connected to the district heating network with hot water. In addition, around 120 new jobs are to be created. With the agreement reached today, we are taking a major step towards an innovative, climate-neutral city. I would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment.”
Alexander Voigt, co-founder and board member of HH2E, says: “We have innovative and consistent plans and have decided to base our technological development and operations in Berlin. From here, we want to make a significant contribution to the energy transition and help Germany regain its energy sovereignty. There are projects in Berlin, such as the Urban Tech Republic at the former Tegel Airport or the CleanTech Business Park Berlin-Marzahn, to which we can make an important contribution with our technology and expertise in the field of green energy.”
At 90 hectares, the CleanTech Business Park Berlin-Marzahn (CBP) is the largest contiguous area for manufacturing companies in Berlin. It offers ideal conditions for future-oriented companies that are looking for a place where they can grow with clean technologies and sustainable products.
Roland Sillmann, Managing Director of WISTA Management GmbH: “I am very pleased that HH2E AG wants to settle in the CleanTech Business Park in Marzahn. With its plans to produce green hydrogen and district heating, the company fits in very well with the cleantech profile of the site. We are confident that the project will make good progress following the joint letter of intent signed today and that construction work can begin next year. We will support HH2E on this path in order to drive forward the knowledge-based reindustrialization of Berlin on the basis of cleantech.”
